Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala → Queen Elizabeth National Park

(Road distance is approximately 410 km and 7-8 hours journey through Kampala → Masaka → Mbarara → Bushenyi → Mweya)

Experience:

  • 7:00am start your journey from Kampala heading southwest
  • Stop at Equator Line in Kayabwe for photos and a quick demonstration
  • 12:30pm Lunch in Mbarara preferably at Igongo cultural village or any other chosen restaurant
  • Expect a Scenic drive through tea estates and rolling hills
  • Arrival and check-in at lodge in Mweya or Katunguru area
  • Evening at leisure or short sunset drive
  • Overnight: Lodge in QENP (with accommodation options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury)
 
Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Experience:

  • 6:00am -10:00am, Early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains – chance to spot lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, Uganda kob, and more
  • Return to lodge for brunch or rest
  • Afternoon boat safari on Kazinga Channel (2 hrs): see large pods of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and a huge variety of waterbirds like fish eagles, pelicans, and kingfishers
  • Overnight: in QENP(with accommodation options, Budget , Midrange or Luxury)
 
Day 3: Crater Lakes & Salt Tour Experience
  • Optional visit to the Katwe Salt Lake – learn about traditional salt mining processes by local communities
  • Drive through scenic crater lake area (optional hike with local guide)
  • Visit to Lake Munyanyange (seasonal flamingo sightings)
  • Cultural stop or craft shopping in local villages
  • Overnight: in QENP (with accommodation options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury)

 

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth NP → Ishasha Sector (Tree-Climbing Lions)

Road distance is 90 km 2-3 hours travel time (gravel roads, through the park)

  • Leisurely drive south to Ishasha Sector, a remote and wilder region of the park
  • Afternoon game drive in search of tree-climbing lions lounging in fig trees
  • Also expect topi, elephants, buffalo, and occasional leopards
  • Overnight: Lodge in Ishasha (with accommodation options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury)

 

Day 5: Ishasha → Kampala / Entebbe
  • Early breakfast and long scenic drive back to Kampala or Entebbe
  • Optional stop in Mbarara for lunch or a quick cultural museum visit
  • Arrival in late afternoon or evening
