Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

(Approximately 270 km and between 4–5 hours drive from Kampala/Entebbe)

Experience:

  • 7:00am start your journey from Kampala heading southwest
  • Stop at Equator Line in Kayabwe for photos and a quick demonstration
  • Evening game drive in Lake Mburo NP
  • Sightings of impala, zebra, eland, buffalo, hippos; picturesque acacia woodlands and savannah
  • Overnight: at lake Mburo (lodge options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury)
 
Day 2: Lake Mburo → Queen Elizabeth National Park

(Road distance about 250 km, between 4–5 hours drive)

Experience:

  • Early morning breakfast at the lodge
  • 8:00am, walking safari or boat ride on Lake Mburo
  • Embark on journey to queen Elizabet national park driving through rolling hills, banana plantations, and Ankole cattle grazing lands
  • Evening arrival and optional sundowner at the lodge
  • Close encounters with nature, local communities, and beautiful scenery en route
  • Overnight: at Queen Elizabeth (lodge options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury)
 
Day 3: Game Drives & Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • 6:00am -10:00am Early morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains
  • 2:00pm – 4:00pm, Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel

Expected experiences:

  • Lions, elephants, Uganda kob, leopards, buffalo; incredible birdlife and hippos on the channel
  • Equator crossing experience at Kikirongo and Optional evening cultural experience with the Kikorongo Women’s Group

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth (Ishasha Sector) → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

(Road distance about 134 km, between 3–4 hours drive)

  • Game drive in the Ishasha sector to spot tree-climbing lions
  • Continue south to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Expected experiences:

  • Remote savannah wilderness, rare tree-climbing lions, transition from open plains to rainforest
  • Overnight: at any of lodge options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury

 

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
  • 7:00am briefing and guided gorilla trekking experience (2–6 hours depending on the group)
  • Afternoon, community walk or Batwa cultural visit

Expected experiences:

  • Face-to-face encounter with endangered mountain gorillas, misty rainforest atmosphere, deep personal connection with nature
  • Overnight: at any of lodge options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury

 

Day 6: Bwindi → Lake Bunyonyi

(Road distance about 78 km, about 2 and half hours drive)

  • Leisurely transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
  • Afternoon canoe ride, zip-lining, or island hopping

Expected experiences:

  • Stunning highland lake views, birdlife, traditional dugout canoes, serene and peaceful setting
  • Overnight: at any of lodge options, Budget, Midrange or Luxury

 

Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi → Kampala/Entebbe (or Kigali if departing Rwanda)

(Travel time: 7–9 hours to Kampala / 4–5 hours to Kigali)

  • Breakfast and scenic drive back with stopovers
  • Optional visit to Igongo Cultural Centre or local crafts markets en route
